Solar Houses A Must For New Town Highrises In Kolkata

The New City Kolkata Growth Power (NKDA) on May Twenty fifth took a pace forward to turn Rajarhat-New City into a solar power city. It has made it compulsory for all residential and professional highrises to install solar power roof systems to fulfill at least 2% of the buildings’ electric fill need.

Debashis Sen, chair cum md of Real estate Facilities Growth Organization (Hidco), said that all future professional and housing businesses like educational institutions, institutions, medical centers, housing cultures and govt businesses will have to fulfill the need.

“A offer will soon be sent to the govt to present necessary changes in the building rules,” he said, adding that the decision was taken at Twenty fifth May’s board meeting.

According to the strategy, all multi-storied structures in Rajarhat-New City have to fulfill around 1.5% to 2% of their electric fill need through solar power. The structures also need to be power brilliant which will reduce the use of traditional electricity. Authorities, on the other hand, will fix the feed in cost rate for using solar power.

Last year, the Centre had arranged the township as ‘Solar City’. It was then that Hidco received acceptance from the secretary of state for non-conventional and electricity to go ahead with the strategy to use solar power in the township.Posted by viswa mandalapu.
